Pharmaceuticals industry has become one of the fastest growing industries of the Russian business

In 2020, the total income of the 500 largest Russian companies decreased by 4.9% compared to the previous year and amounted to 84.9 trillion rubles. This is the first decline in revenue since 2015, according to the compilers of the rating.
The pharmaceutical industry was among the fastest growing and developing industries. The branches of information technology (+ 30.7%), agriculture and food products (+ 23.6%) also showed rapid growth.
The revenue of the permanent industry leader, the oil and gas sector, decreased by 24%, its share in the total revenue of all companies represented in the rating amounted to 28.7% versus 36.2% a year earlier. The second place was taken by the retail trade sector, which accounted for 11.4%. The third place was taken by the financial sector with a share of 11.3%.
“It is obvious that the negative dynamics in the total revenue of the companies represented in the RBC 500 rating is associated with the COVID19 pandemic and quarantine restrictions. At the same time, quite logically, the growth of pharmaceutical industry took place, and our company is a confirmation of this. We continue to build momentum with confidence, especially in our traditional leadership sectors: blood management products, anaesthesia and resuscitation. Strengthening of Lancet position in other areas will allow us to rise a few more steps next year”, comments Anton Zybin, Director General of Lancet JSC.
Lancet JSC took the 396th position in the rating, having risen at once by 24 lines in comparison with the last year. According to the compilers of the rating, the company's total revenue grew by 18% and amounted to 32 milliard rubles.
The RBC 500 rating has been published for the fifth year in a row. In total, the rating includes representatives of 33 industry branches. These include 407 private companies, 75 state-owned ones, 7 companies with significant state and foreign participation, 7 private companies with significant state participation and 4 private companies with significant proportion of foreign ownership.
